This 8-week course focuses on fundamentals of imaginative drawing. Skills learned in this course are essential to kids who have an interest in illustration, animation, game design, and fine art. Each week, students work on drawing skills to create characters, objects, and environments. The course is conducted at Arts & Letters Bookstore on Granbury’s Historic Square.
Students are given their own set of drawing tools to capture and practice techniques taught in class and around the historic
Granbury Square. Because real skills come from daily practice, tasks are assigned for students to complete on their own to reinforce the techniques being taught and to create good work practices.
With emphasis on visual storytelling, students take their drawings from the idea stage, to storyboarding, to an inked product. By the end of the course, students will have created two short visual stories in the form of a comic strip as well as an accordion book that will be exhibited with a reception at Arts & Letters Bookstore.
Two courses are offered this semester — Monday evenings from 6 pm to 7:30 pm for high school students, starting February 17, and Friday evenings from 6 pm to 7:30 pm for middle school kids, starting February 21. Parents can enjoy dinner on the Square while their kids are learning new skills!
Cost: $199 per student, materials included; discount on two or more students.
Advanced registration and payment is required. Only 8 students/class.
